Private coaching can be a powerful and sometimes necessary tool for actors.  As the marketplace becomes increasingly competitive, coaching can be the difference between “thanks for coming in” and the callback, or booking the job.

Auditions are a “minefield” for many actors, and we all need help from time to time navigating them.  I call it “office acting”, which is its own unique process, with its own (sometimes unwritten) rules.  The audition is a unique opportunity that has to be approached with specific strategies; freeing you to be fearless in the face of the many obstacles of the audition process.
Bottom line: what’s required is the core truth of the character and the scene filtered through your “personal fingerprint”, all compressed into a dynamic few minutes.

My coaching clients have had a high success rate booking film and television work. I help them control what they can control, and to understand what is out of their control.  And we establish a “personal narrative” for their audition experience.

  • If your personal narrative going in is “Please pick me!” you might as well stay in the parking lot.

  • I prefer a strong confident narrative that says, “If you should choose to pay me, this is how I would do it”.

I’m an artist, a creative collaborator, a professional.
Together we….Discover the truth. Make it personal to you. Create confidence

HOW I COACH

Whether it’s for a specific audition (live or filmed), an upcoming job you’ve already booked, or simply more intense one-on-one work, we will break down the material and develop a strategy for success in the room, or in the filmed audition.

  • First, we a build “roadmap” for the audition by connecting in a personal and meaningful way with the material on the page, and honoring the world that the writers have created.

  • Then we identify the core qualities of the character, while at the same time identifying what part of you is in alignment with them, and where the reach might be greater.

  • Finally we assess your mental approach to the entire process, and how we can create and sustain confidence in the audition experience.

My job is to help instill the confidence you need to convert opportunities to building blocks for your career.

Coaching once you have the job:  Before shooting a job you already have, breaking down the material is absolutely critical. Developing a strategy for shooting before you begin work is key because once filming begins the sometimes chaotic nature of shooting can take over. Deciding exactly where you impart the key truth of your character is what the close-up is all about.  I will help make the close-up your “best friend”.  The clarity of your decisions can inform the director and editor about what shape the scene might ultimately take.  It all happens in close-up.

Coaching is about helping make every opportunity for you a chance for real success, in the room, on screen, and in your career. I will help you become better, faster.
