coaching
Private coaching can be a powerful and often necessary tool for actors. As the marketplace becomes increasingly competitive, coaching can be the difference between “thanks, they're going in a different direction" to the callback, or to booking the job.
Auditions are a “minefield” for many actors, and we all need help navigating them from time to time. In the brave new world of self-tapes and zoom callbacks, auditioning is its own singular process, with its own (sometimes unwritten and fluid) rules. The one thing you can count on is: change. And it's all moving very fast. Every audition is a unique opportunity that has to be approached with specific targeted strategies; freeing you to be fearless in the face of the many obstacles of the audition process.

Bottom line: what’s required is the core truth of the character, and fidelity to the story filtered through your “personal fingerprint” - all compressed into a dynamic few minutes.
My coaching clients have had a high success rate booking film and television work. I help them control what they can control, and to understand what is out of their control. And we establish a “personal narrative” for their audition experience.

- If your personal narrative at the outset is “Please pick me!” you might as well not even audition. That can be smelled out in an instant.
- I prefer a strong confident narrative that says, “If you should choose to pay me, this is how I would do it”.
- Discover the truth of the scenes and the story
- Make it personal to YOU.
- And create a confident narrative supported by your professionalism and artistry
HOW I COACH
Whether it’s for a specific audition, an upcoming job you’ve already booked, or simply more intense one-on-one work, we will break down the material and develop a strategy for success.
My job is to help instill the confidence you need to convert opportunities to building blocks for your career. Coaching once you have the job: Before shooting a job you've already booked, breaking down the material is absolutely critical. Developing a strategy for your character before you begin the actual shooting is key. Once filming begins the sometimes chaotic nature of the shoot can leave you drained and unprepared. Deciding exactly where you impart the key truth of your character is what the close-up is all about. I will help make the close-up your “best friend”. The clarity of your decisions will inform the director and editor about what shape the scene might ultimately take. It all happens in close-up. Coaching is about helping make every opportunity for you a chance for real success, on screen, on set, and in your career. In the increasingly short timelines we get with auditions, I will help you become better....faster. |
